For the first time in 25 years, the Eurovision Song Contest returns to the UK. With the May Day Bank Holiday and the King’s Coronation the week prior, us Brits have an exciting month coming up.
The mega event will take place in The Liverpool Arena, also known as ‘M&S Bank Arena’. With many local venues getting involved in the festivities, we’re looking at our top venues in Liverpool.
The Liverpool Arena
Hosting the 67th Eurovision Song Contest, Liverpool has its work cut out. The chosen venue, Liverpool Arena or M&S Bank Arena, sits on the River Mersey and can hold up to 11,000 people. Its location is very accessible as the nearby Kings Dock Car Park has 2,000 spaces for those travelling by car. For those taking the eco-friendlier choice of public transport, bus services stop at Liverpool ONE retail development, just five minutes from the arena. With plenty of hotels and restaurants surrounding the venue, there is no shortage of amenities for event attendees.
Municipal Hotel Liverpool
Secondly, the Municipal Hotel Liverpool, opening this month, will become part of the MGallery brand, a luxury boutique-hotel collection. The hotel will be housed in a Grade II-listed heritage structure and will be infused with stylish, modern opulence with historic charm. With 179 rooms spanning over four floors, there are plenty of areas for guests to explore. One area in particular guests will enjoy is the Palm Court Bar and Lounge. The lounge is a magnificent area with a gorgeous bar and live music too. The space was designed to bring individuals together with its sleek finish and specially curated art pieces.
Hotel Indigo Liverpool & Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Liverpool
Finally, Hotel Indigo Liverpool is a colourful venue in a bustling neighbourhood. The hotel is home to spacious, cosy bedrooms with luxury amenities such as rainfall showers. Their Cotton Lounge is a great place for guests to relax, meet with friends, and enjoy a cocktail or two. That’s not all, guests can also dine in style. The Marco Pierre White Steakhouse is situated within Hotel Indigo and serves up classic dishes using only the finest locally sourced produce. It takes inspiration from the rich industrial history of the restaurant’s location which was once a hub for Liverpool’s famous music scene. The restaurant is described as ‘the perfect mix of affordable glamour and understated elegance’.
These are just a few of our favourites in Liverpool. There is no doubt that the city will receive a huge boost in its tourism from hosting Eurovision. This will mean that hotels and event spaces will be more sought after than before. So, be sure to plan any event set in Liverpool well in advance to avoid disappointment.
