Mayfair is always a juxtaposition of hustle and bustle and refined gentility. When you leave Green Park station and enter the throngs of people in Piccadilly it’s easy to forget you are in one of the most exclusive areas of London. Then you turn into Berkeley Street and arrive at 1 Mayfair and instantly feel relaxed. This is their first hotel in Europe with rumours of others to follow.

Check out 1 Hotel Mayfair’s location in the city here:

From the moment the doors open and you look up at the living chandelier (it’s lowered weekly and watered before being hoisted back up) you know you are in a truly unique hotel. The lobby greets you with materials of natural granite, stone and lush greenery. Flavoured water and fresh fruit is freely available should you have to wait to check in.

1 Hotel Mayfair’s Food Scene

Should you need a snack, the lobby restaurant Neighbours serves snacks, juices and hot drinks from 8am to 8pm (this is also available for exclusive hire). Should you want something slightly more alcoholic before or after stepping out into the streets of London, Dover Yard, the bar and lounge is open from midday to 1am. A DJ performs creating the perfect atmosphere (again also available for exclusive hire). As with all their food and beverage options ingredients are sourced (where possible) within a 20 mile radius of the hotel.

Last but not least is Dovetail which is Tom Sellers second restaurant to open this year after Story Cellar in Covent Garden (he’s certainly been busy). From the moment you realise there is a outdoor terrace (protected by coverings and featuring heaters) before looking into the beautiful main restaurant you know you are in for a treat. They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The raw bar is the star of this beautiful restaurant with a seated area dedicated to this. (Surprise, again this can be completely privatised for groups).

Hotel Facilities

Taking the stairs to the first floor where the event space sits you pass you a living wall and gorgeous double height chandelier (yet to be given a name). There are five meeting rooms which can be merged into one large function space with two of the meeting rooms able to merge into one room to create a private dining room. These rooms are sleek, fresh and modern with warm furniture to compliment the overall design.

Then, getting into lift takes you up to the bedrooms, all of these have water stations in them with all of the other amenities you would expect in a five star hotel.  These start at a generous 237 sq.t. Again timber flooring runs throughout with hand chiselled stone  accents. Greenery is featured through all rooms and window seating allows you to spend time reading and watching TV. Thoughtful touches like coat hangers made from recycled books (amongst other things) and toiletries from Bamford make spending time in your room one of the many pleasures of this hotel.

The onsite Bamford Wellness spa offers a holistic approach to wellbeing. Carole Bamford created her ideas in the English countryside and their inclusion in 1 Mayfair ensures you leave the stresses of London life behind you as soon as you step into the spa. There is a menu of treatments individually put together for you by expert therapists. The addition of their gym (and their contract with a local gym equipment supplier ensuring they get all latest high tech gym equipment) which means you can leave the hotel even fitter than when you arrived.

Why Our Client Loves 1 Hotel Mayfair

Overall, the arrival of 1 Mayfair is the missing link between delivering an event in what looks and feels (and is) a sustainable hotel in the 5* category. Since opening in July they have been busy and with their events spaces opening soon event more people will be able to join then on their 5* sustainable journey.

We’d love to thank our client for writing this fantastic piece. If you would like to find out more about this venue, please do get in touch with us.
