We are delighted to bring you our latest Venue to Watch on ExCeL London. The venue is undergoing a 25,000m2 expansion to its ICC and event halls, due to open in October 2024.
ExCeL’s New Extension
Their newest expansion will continue to enhance the venue’s world-class infrastructure, making it the largest integrated exhibition and convention centre in Europe. The extension is part of the existing ExCeL London venue but will have its own dedicated entrance leading directly to the Convention Centre.
The property’s new Maritime Suite will offer thirty-seven flexible event spaces with moveable walls able to host any size of event, up to a mammoth 7,000 delegates. The space will feature stunning floor-to-ceiling windows offering plenty of natural light, and outdoor terraces with breath-taking views over the Royal Docks and Canary Wharf. There will also be open spaces designed for networking and informal delegate led meetings.
The new blank canvas halls offer space for exhibitions, bespoke productions, and integrated catering areas. This allows the venue to offer a range of events from international conferences, exhibitions and trade shows, gala dinners, and so on.
The soon-to-open extension connects to the existing ICC for further space options, including the UKs largest auditorium for 4,200 delegates, and the Capital Suite of seventeen flexible spaces, with moveable walls capable of hosting up to 2,500 delegates. Hard hat tours of the new extension are available for any potential clients hoping to catch a glimpse of what to expect in October.
Location
ExCeL London has a prominent and easily accessible location in the capital. It is just five minutes from Canary Wharf and fifteen minutes to the West End via the Elizabeth line. Here, visitors are spoilt for choice for gorgeous hotels and restaurants to relax in. The venue has two onsite stations with excellent travel connections across London as well as national and international links by rail and air.
Sustainability
Caring for the planet is so important to us at veSpace. So, we like to promote what our favourite venues do to nurture their environment. ExCeL’s new extension will be built and powered with sustainability in mind. Like the rest of the venue, it will use 100% renewable energy, as well as being built to the leading environmental standards with the goal of achieving an ‘Excellent BREEAM’ rating.
As well as supporting five local charity partners, ExCeL London most notably was certified carbon neutral in 2022 – and is the first UK venue to achieve the internationally recognised PAS 2060 status.
